The film holder

Like everything else on the camera, the film holder is made of cardboard. Its purpose is to protect the light sensitive material (I nearly always use photographic paper) from light until the film holder has been put inside the camera. Once in, the film holder must be opened for light from the lens to reach the light sensitive material.
